4 Best Superpowers Ranked in 2024 (Nerd Alert)

Alright. Confession time.

I’m a huge nerd and I’ve always been a fan of superheroes.

As a kid, and even now as an adult, I sometimes picture what my life would be like if I had a superpower. It’s really weird to say it out loud but it’s the truth!

I mean how cool would it be to have a superpower? If I had to choose a superpower it would totally be…

1. Airbending! Having the ability to control the air

“Airbending” is one of the four elemental bending arts. It is the aerokinetic ability to control and manipulate air.

Before you ask, yes, that was taken directly from the Avatar Wiki. I’m a huge fan of the Avatar animated series.

I chose airbending because it looks like so much fun and I think it would really fit my personality. Plus, using the power of the wind seems way cooler than flying or shooting beams of energy from my eyes. It's also incredibly versatile and could be used in a lot of different situations.

I grew up watching Avatar and really resonated with the peaceful Air Nomads and this type of air bending in their everyday lives. And, if this is all over your head, I suggest stopping what you are doing and going to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender – it’s a classic.

It would be so awesome to have the power of airbending! I could literally control the wind and use it to get around, lift heavy objects, create tornadoes, make a force field for protection, and plenty of other cool stuff.

So yeah… if I had to choose one superpower it would definitely be airbending.

Some other runner-up superheroes with powers I’d want are,

2. Gambit – Molecular Acceleration

Not to be confused with the Queens Gambit. I mean Chess is fun but Harmons got nothing on X-Mens Gambit who has the ability to throw and manipulate the kinetic energy in cards.

Gambit from the X-Men is an incredibly powerful character with the ability to manipulate kinetic energy. He has the unique power to charge up any object he touches and then release that charge in a single burst of energy. This makes him capable of doing things such as quickly destroying metal objects or causing objects to explode, depending on how much energy he channels into them. He also has powerful physical abilities such as enhanced speed and acrobatic-like agility.

Gambit's powers could be incredibly useful in a variety of situations, though his reckless attitude often gets him into trouble. In addition to his power set, he is also an expert martial artist and thief which further adds to his arsenal of abilities.

This is an easy runner-up for my super power choice!

3. Nightcrawler – Teleportation

I mean teleportation is pretty straightforward as far as a power goes but imagine the time you would save in traffic! X-Mens Nightcrawler definitely has one of the coolest powers but I think I’d opt out of having a tail.

Nightcrawler from the X-Men is able to teleport himself and others from one place to another in an instant. He can use his teleportation power to move anywhere within Earth's atmosphere, although he is unable to travel any farther than that. This power has been incredibly useful for Nightcrawler in battle situations, as it makes him difficult to hit and allows him to get into or out of a fight quickly.

This power would be incredibly useful in my life, as I could go anywhere within seconds! I could travel around the world without having to worry about flights or traffic.

But it does seem a little overpowered...

4. Aquaman – Breathing Underwater

Breathing underwater sounds like a dream. Sinking to the bottom of a pool and literally drowning out the rest of the world for some peace and quiet would be the ultimate in relaxation. Admittedly I’d use this power very shell-fish-ly (#dadjokealert).

Aquaman from DC comics has the power to breathe underwater, allowing him to survive in ocean depths and explore sunken ruins. He is also able to communicate with sea creatures and can control water as an extension of his will. Aquaman's ability to swim at superhuman speeds and his superhuman strength make him practically invincible when it comes to underwater combat.

This power would be incredibly useful in exploring the ocean and discovering all of its mysteries. I could also use it to travel around the world quickly, and have a great time doing so! Who knows what types of creatures I could find along the way? Ogopogo is that you!?

Final Thoughts on Superpowers

I’ve always been obsessed with superheroes and it’s fun to think about what life would be like if I had some type of a superpower.

Airbending would be the most practical choice, as it gives me the ability to manipulate air currents and create powerful gusts of wind. Gambit’s molecular acceleration power could come in handy for quickly destroying metal objects or causing objects to explode (or just looking hella sexy). Nightcrawler’s teleportation could save me loads of time traveling around the world. And Aquaman’s power to breathe underwater would give me access to the depths of the ocean and a chance to discover its mysteries.

That was fun! What superpower would you most like to have?
